ABOUT

Artist, Writer & Community Voice

Hello! My name is Dr. Madhvi Pradeep Mohindra, sydney-based artist, writer and community voice

Dr. Madhvi Mohindra is an eminent Indian Classical dancer and musician, known especially as a maestro of Kathak and Indian Classical music. She began her training under Guru Smt. Prem Lata Ellawadi and Pt. Rajendra Gangani of the Jaipur Gharana, and later studied with Guru Vedvyas of the Lucknow Gharana. From these traditions, she absorbed both the grace and subtlety of Lucknow and the complex footwork, powerful spins, and intricate rhythmic compositions of Jaipur. Alongside Kathak, she is also proficient in Indian folk and Bollywood dance forms, and has been performing on stage since the age of four.

Born in Bhiwani, Haryana, into a family of educationalists and artists, Madhvi pursued her passion for dance and music at a time when such paths were not widely encouraged. With the unwavering support of her parents, she followed her calling and went on to earn the highest academic degrees — Masters and PhD in Dance, Music, and Hindi Literature.

A truly multifaceted personality, Madhvi has been described in many ways: dancer, musician, actor, choreographer, former Femina Miss India Contestant (1992), media executive, and community leader. She has represented India on global stages with awe-inspiring performances, earning accolades such as Best Dancer and Best All-Rounder.

For more than 25 years, she has taught dance and music, choreographed productions for television, stage, and film across India, Fiji, and Australia, and conducted workshops in dance, music, acting, and Hindi language. Her contributions extend to media as well — she has hosted programs on All India Radio, Radio Navtarang Fiji, Fiji Broadcasting Corporation Ltd, and talkback shows on SBS Radio Australia.

Her journey reflects both artistic excellence and cultural leadership, making her a respected voice in the fields of performance, education, and community engagement.
